General:

 Snell & Wilmer, one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in the western United States, seeks an experienced marketing professional. This full-time position will be based in Salt Lake City (SLC), Utah. It will report directly to the Phoenix-based director of marketing, but will also have a reporting relationship to the administrative partners and office director in SLC. The position will include some firmwide marketing responsibilities and occasional travel to other offices and events. 

 Duties & Responsibilities:

• Proactively identify and plan client seminars, attorney speaking engagements, special events and other marketing initiatives as required; and manage the appropriate pre- and post-event follow-up activities for each of these initiatives. 
• Draft, edit and distribute press releases and other firm news.
• Work with attorneys to develop and place articles in relevant publications and distribute newsletters and alerts to appropriate contacts.
• Manage process for pitches and RFPs (i.e., research, content development, editing, assembly and delivery). 
• Work with attorneys and practice groups to develop and execute marketing and business development plans.
• Conduct necessary prospect, client and market research.
• Work with attorneys and practice groups to draft and edit award nominations and ranking submissions (i.e., Chambers, Best Lawyers, 40 Under 40, etc.).
• Work with attorneys to secure sponsorship and marketing event approvals and ensure Snell & Wilmer receives and maximizes all contracted deliverables.
• Work with SLC marketing partners/committee to manage/enhance marketing mentor program to achieve objectives.
• Provide marketing and business development coaching/training.
• Plan, manage and execute SLC advertising plan.
• Identify potential clients, business development and cross-selling opportunities and work with attorneys and practice groups to maximize those efforts.
• Work with Phoenix marketing team to ensure firmwide marketing initiatives are integrated into SLC programs and initiatives.
• Work with Phoenix marketing team to ensure the marketing and business development needs of SLC attorneys and practice groups are met in a timely and efficient manner.
• Provide content editing/proofreading support for marketing department projects.
• Participate on SLC Community Involvement Committee and others as determined by office priorities.
• Manage special projects as assigned. 
• Participate in weekly marketing department meetings.   

Specific Requirements:

•  College degree in marketing, communications or related field of study is required. Graduate degree helpful. 
• Previous law firm experience strongly preferred. Professional services and/or legal-related experience helpful. 
• Ability to make presentations and to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.  
• Excellent writing, grammar, proofing and editing skills. 
• Proven project management skills.  
• Ability to deal professionally with all internal and external clients on all levels and develop strong professional relationships. 
• Flexible work schedule and ability to travel and work before and after hours. 
• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.

 For this year, we are proposing a program where you, your employees, and your Firms can all get involved on Friday, October 21, 2011. The program has two levels: 1) Give money or collect canned food donations; and 2)Volunteer time at the Utah food bank. Both are welcome and encouraged. Here are the details:

 1. Money or Canned Food Donations: Several ideas are available, for example: get a contribution check from your Firm (the easiest), do a bake sale and send in the proceeds, collect canned foods from your building, encourage your employees to empty all that “year supply” food storage we never use and donate, win the lottery/donate a kidney (the hardest) and send in the proceeds, etc. Regardless of your plan, please plan on sending me the funds prior to noon on October 21, 2011. Canned foods can be delivered directly to the Utah Food Bank (but be sure to mention the UALA as the donating organization).

 2. Volunteer at the Food Bank: We have scheduled a few hours of volunteering at the Utah Food Bank on Friday, October 21, 2011, from 1:30pm – 3:30pm. Please encourage as many people from your Firm as possible…heck, make it a “casual-dress-Friday-for-a-cause”! Likely projects at the Food Bank include building dry soup kits, assembling food boxes, or other necessary tasks. The UALA leadership promises to entertain us all with witty jokes, yodeling contests and Matt’s heart-wrenching rendition of Boise State’s fight song. I told the Food Bank to plan for at least 25 volunteers, so don’t make me a liar!
